 «The discourse about the Arctic and Subarctic is dominated by the topics of climate change and resource extraction. This presentation will focus on the social and cultural trajectories of indigenous communities in the North. A particular emphasis will be put on climate change, in order to assess what is and what isn’t attributable to a changing climate. Other factors, such as language retention, non-renewable resource extraction, globalisation, and transportation networks, will be addressed as well.»

Cette conférence sera consacrée aux trajectoires sociales et culturelles des communités dans le Nord - Arctique et Subarctique, en particulier liées au changement climatique, et aux phénomènes qui lui sont imputables ou non. D’autres facteurs, tels que la conservation de la langue, l’extraction de ressources non-renouvelables, la globalisation et les réseaux de transport seront également abordés.

Notons que le Professeur Peter Schweitzer, éminent anthropologue, a contribué aux travaux du GIEC (Groupe d’experts intergouvernemental sur l’évolution du climat).
