CNAP
The Observation Services and national resources approved by the National Institute of Sciences of the Universe (INSU), and implemented by the Observatories of Sciences of the Universe (OSU), have the mission of developing and maintaining observations and models in the long term to answer scientific questions instigated by INSU. In order to fulfil their missions, the observation services belong to a specific body of Astronomers and Physicists, engaged statutorily in the activities of research, teaching and dissemination of knowledge, as well as the organisation and implementation of observation activities. The organisation of Astronomers and Physicists is managed by the National Council of Astronomers and Physicists (CNAP), established by decree 86-433 on March 12, 1986, modified by decrees 2001-1231 on December 20, 2001, 2002-932 on June 13 2002, 2012-156 on January 30, 2012.
The CNAP is composed of three distinct sections since 2004:
Every year, these three sections recruit physicists / astronomers and assistant physicists / astronomers. This personnel represents a particular body of lecturer-researchers reporting to the Ministry of National Education, with the specificity of carrying out scientific tasks for the benefit of the entire scientific community. The terms and timetables of the competitions for admission for the three sections can be found on the websites. The CNAP is also responsible for evaluating and managing the careers of staff recruited and assigned to the OSUs.
